Dr. Sandy Leahy
Dr. Leahy was born and raised in Farmington, Michigan. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor degree, majoring in Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology, in 1989. She was then accepted into Central Michigan University’s Masters Program in Audiology and graduated in 1990.
From 1990 until 1992 Sandy was employed as an Audiologist at ENT Specialists, PC in Farmington Hills, MI. In 1992 she moved to Traverse City, married, and began practicing Audiology at Munson Medical Center. In 2007 Sandy completed her Doctorate degree from Arizona School of Health Science.
During her sixteen years at Munson, she managed the newborn hearing screening program. She was on the committee that developed universal newborn hearing screening protocols for the Michigan Department of Community Health. She was instrumental in bringing sedated Auditory Brainstem Response testing to Munson.
In 2008 Dr. Leahy went into private practice at Hearing Solutions of Northwest Michigan with Dr. Kathleen Sawhill. During her past twenty years as an Audiologist she has served the diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiologic needs for people of all ages.
Dr. Leahy holds a clinical certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of the American Academy of Audiology.
Dr. Leahy enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is married and has two children. She is a runner and enjoys being outdoors.
Dr. Kathleen Sawhill
Dr. Sawhill was born and raised in Northern Michigan. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders. She continued her academic career at Central when she was accepted into the Doctorate of Audiology program. She obtained her Au.D. from Central Michigan University in 2006 and practiced Audiology at Munson Medical Center for three years.
During her time at Munson, Dr. Sawhill provided diagnostic testing and hearing aid services to persons of all ages. She also played an instrumental role in initiating a sedated Auditory Brainstem Response Test program that helps to service children in Northern Michigan.
Dr. Sawhill formed Hearing Solutions of Northwest MI with Dr. Leahy in July 2008. In this new Audiology practice she continues to provide diagnostic hearing evaluations and hearing aid services to individuals of all ages.
She is currently a member of the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Sawhill and her husband currently live in Traverse City. Their first child, Max, was born in December 2008. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, baking and running.
