Hearing Aid Repairs
Hearing Aid Solutions of Northwest Michigan services every hearing aid we sell. Because we repair all major brands, we may be able to repair your hearing aids even if you didn’t buy them from us.
All new hearing aids are warranted for defects. Even if your original warranty is expired, we may be able to repair your hearing aids for a small charge. Bring your hearing aids in for inspection and we can talk you through what to expect during the repair process.
If your devices are more than five years old, it may be better to replace them instead of repairing them. The audiologist provides you with an understanding of all options, so you can make a fully informed decision.
Troubleshooting Common Hearing Aid Issues
Many minor hearing aid problems can be fixed at home, whether it’s a quick cleaning or simply changing the batteries. If your hearing aids won’t turn on, check that the battery door is fully closed. Most dead hearing aids just need is a fresh set of batteries or a full charge.
Check behind the ear devices for a plugged tube.
Make sure your hearing aids and your ears are clear of excess earwax. Excess earwax is a common cause of hearing aid malfunction.
If your hearing aids turn on, but the sound is distorted, check that you set the devices to the correct function and program. Dying batteries can’t provide enough energy for the processors to function. Change or charge the batteries.
Daily Maintenance
It is important to clean your hearing aids daily. Wipe them with a soft cloth to remove earwax and other debris. Store them in safely when not in use. While most hearing aids are water resistant, it’s important to keep your hearing aids from getting wet. So always remember to remove them before bathing, showering or swimming.
If you have questions regarding the maintenance and care of your hearing aids, be sure to ask the audiologist. We are here to help.
